Rahul Gandhi took a dig at the consecration ceremony of the Ram temple, branding it as a political event centered around Narendra Modi. During his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra kick-off in Manipur, Rahul Gandhi launched his arrows directly at the BJP, his primary political adversaries. Addressing the Ram temple consecration ceremony, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi dubbed it a political Narendra Modi function. He expressed his perspective during a briefing in Kohima, the capital of Nagaland, as part of his ongoing Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra. Gandhi criticized the event, stating, “The 22nd January function has been completely turned into a political Narendra Modi function by the RSS and the BJP. It is essentially an RSS BJP affair, and that's precisely why the Congress President decided not to participate in the function. We embrace all religions and practices.” Highlighting the stance of prominent figures in the Hindu religion, Gandhi asserted, “Even significant authorities in the Hindu faith have publicly voiced their opinion about the 22nd January function, labeling it as a political affair. Consequently, it's challenging for us to attend a political function crafted around the Prime Minister of India and orchestrated by the RSS.” This statement from Gandhi follows the Congress's rejection of the invitation for the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony, where party leaders, including Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, and Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, opted not to participate. In an official statement, the Congress pointed out, “The BJP and RSS have expedited the inauguration of the incomplete temple for electoral gains.” The ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony, featuring a seven-day ritual, commenced on Tuesday. The main consecration event, scheduled for January 22 and presided over by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is expected to draw the participation of renowned saints, celebrities, including athletes, actors, and industrialists. Acharya Satyendra Das, the chief priest of the Ram temple, shared insights into the ongoing rituals, mentioning, "The 'anushthan' has begun and will continue until January 22, the day of the consecration ceremony. Eleven priests are conducting rituals, invoking all the 'devis and devtas' (goddesses and gods)."
