In a dynamic turn of events, Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, which momentarily paused its march, surged back to life from the picturesque town of Jalpaiguri and Siliguri in the Darjeeling district of West Bengal. After a two-day interlude, the Yatra recommenced on a vibrant note, embodying the spirit of unity and justice.

 A Cross-Country Expedition with a Purpose

Initiated on January 14 from Manipur, the Yatra crossed into West Bengal from Assam, marking a significant chapter in its 67-day sojourn covering a staggering distance of 6,713 kilometers across 15 states. Amidst the scenic landscapes of Siliguri, Rahul Gandhi arrived at the Bagdogra airport at 11.30 am, heralding the next phase of the Yatra, which blends both road travel and on-foot exploration.

State General Secretary of Congress, Vinay Tamang, confirmed that during the brief hiatus, Rahul Gandhi returned to New Delhi, reenergized and ready to spearhead the Yatra with renewed zeal. The Yatra, a monumental undertaking aimed at fostering national unity and justice, resumed from its Siliguri venue at 2.00 PM, marking the continuation of a journey that transcends geographical boundaries.

Adding to the fervor, Congress State Leader Suvankar Sarkar disclosed that the Yatra is slated to journey to Islampur in Uttar Dinajpur district on Monday, before venturing into Bihar. The meticulously planned route will see the Yatra re-enter West Bengal on January 31 through Malda, meandering through districts like Murshidabad, and eventually exiting the state on February 1.

Congress Reaches Out to Mamata Banerjee for Support

The political landscape surrounding the Yatra has not been without its share of challenges. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has extended an olive branch to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, seeking her support to ensure the seamless execution of the Yatra in the state. The letter penned by Kharge underlines the importance of cooperation and collaboration in navigating the intricate web of logistical intricacies.

Amidst the political overtures, concerns were raised by Congress about alleged damages to banners featuring Rahul Gandhi in Jalpaiguri. State Congress President Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury expressed apprehension regarding the hurdles faced in obtaining permissions for public meetings as part of the Yatra in West Bengal. The political landscape was further stirred as Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee declared the TMC's independent participation in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in West Bengal, distinct from the opposition bloc INDIA.

As the Yatra presses forward, it embodies the essence of a national journey, resonating with the aspirations of unity and justice. The meandering path, laden with challenges and triumphs, seeks to weave a tapestry of solidarity across the diverse landscape of India. With the Yatra scheduled to conclude in Mumbai on either March 20 or 21, the political narrative is poised for further twists and turns as Rahul Gandhi and his entourage navigate the vast expanse of the country, one step at a time.
