Shivsagar, Assam, 18 January - Rahul Gandhi, leading the charge with the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, pointed fingers at the Assam government, boldly declaring it as "perhaps India's most corrupt." The Yatra, in its fifth day, embarked on an ambitious eight-day journey across Assam, covering 17 districts and spanning 833 km.

Gandhi, resuming the Yatra from Tuli in Nagaland, reached Assam to a warm welcome by hundreds of party enthusiasts at Haluwating. During the National Flag handover Ceremony, he emphasized the Yatra's mission to unite every caste and religion in India while delivering justice, or 'Nyay,' to the people. In a poignant nod to Assam's historical figure Sankardev, Gandhi stated, "This Yatra is a journey of Sankardev's ideology, fighting against injustice and uniting everyone."

Addressing the media, Gandhi accused the BJP and RSS of perpetrating social, economic, and political injustices across the nation, making a pointed remark that the "most corrupt government" might be in Assam.

The Yatra has not been without its challenges. On 17 January, Senior Congress leader Alka Lamba urged the BJP-led government in Assam to facilitate the Yatra's smooth progression. Lamba asserted, "No force can stop it from coming to Assam," expressing confidence that the Congress, currently with three Lok Sabha members from Assam, aims to double its tally in the state.

As the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra carves its way through Assam, it symbolizes not just a political journey but a crusade against injustice, echoing the spirit of Sankardev's vision for a united and just India.

However, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sharma has said that if Congress people take Rahul Gandhi in Guwahati with Bharat Jodo Yatra, then they can take it but he will arrest them before the yatra leaves for Siliguri, WB. "I cannot tolerate the traffic jam in Assam". He Said.
