Sonitpur, (Assam) 21 Jan: In a march for “Sab ke liye Nyay” in Indian democracy, Rahul Gandhi, the prominent leader of the Congress party, experienced a brief but spirited encounter during the 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra' in Assam's Sonitpur district on Sunday. The episode unfolded as an enthusiastic crowd, displaying BJP flags, gathered around the Yatra, leading to a temporary commotion. The Yatra, for meanwhile was disturbed. Promptly responding to the situation, Rahul Gandhi was skillfully guided into the safety of the 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra' bus by his dedicated security personnel and party workers. The visuals shared by the news agency ANI captured the charismatic leader gracefully engaging with the crowd before reboarding the bus for continued travel. The Congress party, while acknowledging the fervent support from the gathering, expressed concern over alleged incidents of unruly behaviour of BJP Karyakartas. According to Congress leaders, their workers and leaders faced challenges as BJP supporters, some carrying party flags, surrounded the Yatra. Vehicles were reportedly targeted, and media personnel accompanying the Yatra were said to have been "manhandled." Rahul Gandhi, known for his composed demeanor, downplayed the incident, asserting that around 20 workers, purportedly from the BJP, brandished sticks in front of the Yatra bus but swiftly dispersed when he approached. In a statement to ANI, he emphasized the party's unwavering stance, stating, "They can tear as many posters and placards as they want, we don't care. We are not scared of anybody, neither PM Narendra Modi nor Assam CM." The 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra,' which aims to connect with the people and highlight issues of justice and equality, continued its journey, undeterred by the transient disruption. The incident serves as a testament to the vibrancy of political engagement in the country, where leaders navigate through diverse opinions and expressions, contributing to the rich tapestry of democratic dialogue.
