In its second edition, WPL 2024 promises an action-packed season with a total of 22 thrilling games. The grand finale is scheduled to take place on March 17 in the vibrant city of New Delhi. Unlike the previous season, the upcoming tournament will unfold in two dynamic cities – Bengaluru and Delhi, adding a fresh twist to the league's dynamic.
The WPL 2024 schedule has a riveting eliminator scheduled for March 15 in New Delhi, setting the stage for intense competition among the top franchises. Following the format of the successful WPL 2023, there will be no home-away format this season, ensuring every match is a fiercely contested battle.
The battle for supremacy will see the top three franchises from the league stage advancing to the playoffs. The team finishing at the summit of the league table will secure a direct spot in the final, while the second and third-placed teams will engage in a high-stakes eliminator. In the previous season, Mumbai Indians, led by the dynamic Harmanpreet Kaur, emerged victorious, defeating Delhi by seven wickets.
WPL 2024 is breaking new ground by hosting matches in Bengaluru and Delhi, offering fans an opportunity to witness consecutive games at the same venue for over 10 successive days. This strategic move aims to keep the tracks at both venues fresh for the upcoming IPL 2024, scheduled to commence on March 22.
BCCI Secretary Jay Shah had earlier expressed the board's intention to host WPL 2024 in one state, alleviating logistical challenges associated with multiple venues.
